SECA BIA
Seca BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis) is a technology used to measure body composition, providing more detailed insights than just weight alone. It can be a valuable tool for weight loss by helping individuals understand whether they are losing fat, muscle, or both. This information can be used to optimize nutrition and training plans to support healthy weight loss.
Seca BIA goes beyond just measuring total weight. It provides specific data on fat mass, muscle mass, and body water, offering a more comprehensive picture of body composition.
By monitoring changes in these components, individuals can track their progress in losing fat and building or maintaining muscle mass, which can be more motivating than simply tracking weight loss.
Education
Weight loss occurs when the body expends more calories than it consumes. However we teach patients basic dietary strategies including plate method, glucose hacking, and intermittent fasting to maximize weight loss. We can adjust diet to dietary preference and consider medical history in dietary recommendations.
In addition to education patients about macronutrients (proteins, carbohydrates, fats), we also teach patient how certain micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) may play a roll in maintaining overall health and weight management.
We encourage patients to prioritize nutrient-dense foods like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. We encourage limiting processed food and increasing water intake.
We recommend patients to incorporate regular physical activity into their routine, aiming for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise per week and incorporating strength training exercises to build muscle mass, which can boost metabolism and improve overall fitness.
Why We Are Different
Our medical weight loss program differs from traditional dieting primarily through its personalized, medically supervised approach. It considers individual health conditions, lifestyle, and goals to create a tailored plan, unlike the one-size-fits-all approach often seen in conventional programs.
Our medical weight loss programs are not generic; they are tailored to each individual's unique needs and goals.
Factors like medical history, current health status, lifestyle, and preferences are considered when creating the plan.
This may involve dietary changes, exercise plans, and even medication or behavioral therapy, all customized to the individual.
Unlike self-directed dieting, our medical programs are overseen by a healthcare professional trained specialists monitor progress, provide guidance, and adjust the plan as necessary, ensuring safety and effectiveness. This is particularly important for individuals with pre-existing health conditions like diabetes or hypertension, as the program can be integrated with managing these conditions.
Structured Medical Support
Our weight loss program with structured medical support provides a framework for individuals to lose weight, guided by healthcare professionals and incorporating evidence-based strategies. Our programs often include personalized nutrition plans, exercise recommendations, behavioral therapy, and, when appropriate, medication management. We aim for sustainable weight loss by addressing the underlying causes of weight gain and fostering healthy lifestyle habits.
Holistic Approach
Paid for by Most Insurance
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) mandates that most health insurance plans cover obesity screening and counseling as a preventive service.
If your weight contributes to other medical conditions (like diabetes or heart disease), your insurance may cover medications like Ozempic or Mounjaro, but coverage for these medications solely for weight loss may be limited.
If your primary reason for wanting weight loss medication is for general weight management and not due to a related medical condition, your insurance may not cover it.
Some insurance plans may have restrictions on specific weight loss procedures or treatments, even if they are considered medically necessary for some individuals.
